"Beginning in 2012, San Francisco-based artist Jon Levy-Warren stopped using canvas and paper in favor of transparent plastic and glass. He creates work while looking directly at his subject through his transparent “canvas.” His paintings examine human lives, moments, spaces and objects imbued with mood and feeling. Through his representations of people and their homes, Levy-Warren expresses a view of humanity that is sympathetic, joyful and serene.

For the Love show, Levy-Warren is showing ""Kat Yellow Shirt."" The painting's subject, Kat Geng, is the artist's girlfriend. She looks directly at the viewer/the artist with love in her eyes. She touches her own cheek in a gesture of affection and wears a string bracelet that represents the bond between the artist and the sitter. The viewer's eye is drawn to her red and pink lips - emblematic of sexual attraction. This piece is about a unique and particular love shared between two people. It is an intimate work. In the act of showing the painting, the Levy-Warren invites the viewer and the world at large into his small world of two. This love is out there for the world to see, it is shared, it is the same love all people can share.
