"The hannya mask represents a jilted female lover. I feel that there are many emotions when it comes to love—jealousy happens to be one of them. This female demon loves her ex so much, that she would go through perennial hate to haunt them. That longing and desire is what is so central, but if you’re haunting and torturing someone because you love them, you’re still pretty fucked up."
